FOUND: 'The Hidden World' by Alison Baird

I've been thinking about this book for the longest time and still haven't figured what it was. I read it probably around 2001-2002 but it could've been published before that. What I can remember of the plot was a young girl finds some sort of passage to another world and meets up with these fantasy type characters and eventually ends up having to go to battle with them. I think there was a love interest of sorts as well.

I remember the cover more vividly, as it was a smaller sized black cover with distinct cover art. There was a red headed girl on the front standing next to a tall, fierce looking black haired woman, that was wearing fur and possibly holding a spear. They may have been on a castle or something similar. I think the title was one word, maybe started with A, but I can't remember. There mate have been Celtic themes in the book too.

Any help? I know it's not much to go on. :(

Sounds like Warriors of Alavna by N. M. Browne. It's part of a trilogy - the second and third books are Warriors of Camlaan and Warriors of Ethandun :)

Sounds like it could be 'The Hidden World' by Alison Baird.

Here's the Amazon page with the cover - http://www.amazon.ca/Hidden-World-Alison-Baird/dp/0141302933/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328899245&sr=1-6#_

The cover matches your description and the name of the land she falls into is called Annwn.

I read it a long time ago and loved it. There's also a prequel called 'The Wolves of Woden', but it's better if you read HW first. :)

You're very welcome. You had me scratching my head, until you described the cover. Then it was an instant lightbulb moment, lol. :)

The cover stumped me, but in just in case, it sounds similar to The Abarat by Clive Barker.

Could it be Castledown? It's older than the others mentioned here but the plot it the same.

Sometimes in life a moment seizes you as it happens. This is that moment, this is Gateway. Check out more about the highly anticipated novel by Joel Erlichson @ GatewayStory.com I met this guy while he was with a camera crew in St Louis handing out fliers for his novel. Word is he is being filmed for an upcoming documentary about his book. They had me sign a release form since I was in the background of a bookstore where he was attempting to sell copies of his book. I cannot say what network was shooting the show because of terms of the release forms, but the book looks extremely interesting.
